What do you think about?

Today there is a hurricane bearing down on the coast of my state. It is going to hit landfall about 7 o’clock tonight. It has been wobbling back and forth in the Gulf of Mexico for a week. I woke up this morning thinking about it and its ramifications. It’s not a large hurricane like Katrina, but it’s a storm none the less. It’s funny how our lives are made up of what we think about. So, how important is what we think about?

It is true that what we think is what happens to us. If we dwell on a subject long enough, we begin to believe what we think about. It doesn’t make a difference what subject we think about. What matters is if we take it seriously. We all live in the present. We can’t live in the past or future. Or we are not suppose to. The only time that we have to affect anything is now. Do you know how short a span now is? It is a moment in our lives. It comes and goes in a flash. And all these moments equal a lifetime.

So, I ask you again, what do you think about? Is it important enough to occupy your attention? Or do we need to cast it aside and go on with our lives? You see, what we think about will eventually come out of our mouths. Then it will come true in our lives.

Crain Blanchard.
