The God of the living.

In Matthew 22:23-33, the Sadducees came to argue with Jesus. They didn’t believe in the resurrection of the dead. It’s sad to think that someone believes that this earth is all you have, as miserable as this world is. Jesus went on to explain to them about the resurrection and how people will live in heaven. He told them that we will be like the angels, individuals. We will not marry or be married in heaven. Then Jesus told them the scripture in Exodus 3:6. Jesus said I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I am the God of the living, not the dead. Jesus is as alive and real as He was on earth. And we that believe are walking home to heaven to meet our God and Father who is alive and wanting for us. Hallelujah.

Being tempted in the temple.

In Matthew 22:15-22, Jesus and the disciples were in the temple. Jesus was there to be tried and tested to see if He was the true lamb of God. Jesus was and is the Passover lamb, sacrificed for our sins. Pharisees and religious leaders tempted Him again. They asked Him if it was right to pay tribute to Ceasar. Jesus asked them to show Him a Roman coin. He said who’s inscription is on the coin. They said Ceasar’s. Then Jesus said, render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar’s and unto God the things that are God’s. They were dumbfounded. But I’ll ask you, what are the things of God that we must give to God? The first thing is our life. We are bought with a price. We aren’t our own. We belong to God. I’ll ask you other question, does your life reflect Jesus in your life? So, what are the things of God that we render to God?

The Parable of the Wedding Feast.

In Matthew 22:1-14, Jesus and the disciples were in the temple. It was the week of Passover. Jesus taught with parables. He told the parable of the wedding feast. A king had a marriage supper ready for his son, he called his servants to go and tell those invited it was ready. All the invited people refused to come. The king sent more servants and they were beaten and killed. The king sent his army and destroyed the murders. Then the king said to go into the highways and byways and invite everyone you find. The servants went and filled the house with people. The king came to see everyone. There was one guest who did not have a wedding garment. The king asked how he got in without the wedding garment. His servants through him out, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Jesus said for many are called, but few are chosen. You have to choose to walk in the way of righteousness, every day.

The Parable of the Husbandman.

In Matthew 21:33-46, Jesus and the disciples were in the temple. It was the week of Passover and thousands of people were in Jerusalem and temple. The religious leaders were testing Jesus. The passover lamb had to be inspected for three days before it was sacrificed for Passover. Jesus told them the parable of the husbandman. Jesus told them the story of a man who built a vineyard and rented it out to a husbandman, then went to a far country. When the harvest came, the owner sent his servants to collect his share of the vineyard. The husbandman seized the servants and killed them. Finally, the owner sent his son and they killed him. Then Jesus asked what shall be done to the husbandman? The people said the husbandman would be removed and killed. Jesus told them that the vineyard would be given to another. The religious leaders knew that Jesus was talking about them and plotted to kill Jesus. We are the replacement for the husbandman. We have to strive lawfully in the kingdom of God. Yet people have chosen to be cast out of the vineyard into everlasting death. Today is the day and now is the time of salvation. Like Joshua of old, chose you this day who you will serve? Joshua said, for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

The Parable of the Two Sons.

In Matthew 21:28-32, Jesus was talking to the religious leaders in the temple. He tells them a story of two sons. He said that a man had two sons and asked one to go into the fields to work and he said no. But later repented and went and worked in the fields. The father went to the second son and asked him to go work. The second son said yes and didn’t go. Jesus said which did the father’s will? Then He said to the religious leaders that publicans and harlots will go into the kingdom of God before you. John the Baptist came preaching the way of righteousness and you didn’t believe him. But the publicans and harlots believed. So, tell me who will do the will of our Father?

Honesty is the best policy.

In Matthew 21:23-27, Jesus and the disciples returned to the temple the next day. Jesus was teaching in the temple, when the religious leaders came to him. They asked Him by authority did Jesus chase all of merchandise and money changers out of the temple. Jesus said I’ll tell you if you answer my question. He said was John the Baptist from God or man? The religious leaders discussed the question amongst themselves. They said amongst themselves if we say God, He will say why didn’t we follow. So they told Jesus that they didn’t know. Jesus said He wouldn’t answer their question either. Jesus is wanting us to be honest with ourselves. Because when we are honest, we can see what is really in our heart. This is the first step to God. When we are honest that is when we can confess our sins before God. Everyone needs forgiveness from God. So, what is the truth in your life?
