What are You willing to risk?

The risk factor in any adventure is indeterminable. There are too many factors that just can not be determined. So, you have to just take a chance on your ability to survive. When I was young, I look at life as a plum to be picked. I didn’t care about the risk I took on my life. I know that I should have been dead several times. There was one time in college, I was going to pick up my girlfriend in other town to bring her back for a New Years eve party. It was about 15 miles away. I was taking the back roads to avoid traffic. There was a 10 mile straight away with no stop signs. But at the end of the road was a T in the road. You had to turn left or right. My dad had a muscle car with a hemi 318hp motor. It could do 0 to 60 in 3 secs. Burned gas like crazy. It was a Plymouth Fury 111. I got on this road and took off. The speedometer register up to 130 mph. I put the pedal to metal and the speedometer needle was bouncing of the peg at 130 mph. I knew the road and was looking for any car that came on to it. I showed down for the stop sign and stopped. I turn left and looked in my rear view mirror. There behind was a State Trooper. I pulled over and I knew I was going to jail and my dad’s car was going to be impounded. I got out of the car and the State Trooper walked up to me. He said, I clocked you doing 80 mph in a 60 mph zone. He said if I put it down, I have to take you to Jail. Then he said, I’ll put down 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. I started thanking him profusely. I could have killed myself and any other person that came onto that road.

It wasn’t until I received the Lord in my heart that I was delivered from that need for speed demon. Now all my risk taking is measure carefully against my real ability to survive, knowing that I have Assurance from God in my life. I’m not crazy about anything, but will put myself at risk when God calls me to move into unknown territory. Now even if I place myself when I could be killed, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am killed, I will go to heaven. But all time knowing that I am accomplishing God’s will here on earth. What are you willing to risk? God is ready to step in and help you when you call upon His name and believe.

Crain Blanchard.
