An Eye for an Eye

In Old Testament times, everybody lived by the golden rule, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and a life for a life. It was God’s law. Even Moses as a prince of Egypt, fled for his life after killing a man. No one was immune to the law. Every civilization had this law. So the people were surprised when Jesus preached forgiveness and turning the other cheek. Because of the hardness of the hearts of men, God had to put a law in place to keep the peace.  It’s not like that today, people just can’t go around killing other people for nothing. Oh, wait it is just like today. The bible always said that God knew who man was and what he would do. So He sent Jesus to preach a different gospel so people could live together. He said to love God with your whole heart, soul and mind. And to love you neighbor as yourself. But you know that God never did away with the law. If man sins, he falls under the penalty of the law. What is the penalty of the law you ask? It is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and a life for a life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Choose God while you can and let Him bring you out from under the law.
